My head is a bad neighbourhood
My head is a bad neighbourhood
Every time I stop drinking, I can't lose this heavy feeling in my head. It feels like light pressure, more than anything and it's constant. Kind of like a permanent weak hang over or a band around my head. I've mentioned this to my Dr and he doesnt feel it's anything to be concerned with.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how long before t goes.

This reminds me of the sort of thing that replaces "normal" hangovers in people who binge drink several times a week.
With a small binge, which was 7-10 drinks for me, the feeling would be gone within perhaps 6 hours the next day (assuming the drinking was during the previous evening). With a larger binge, particularly one that lasted 24-48 hours, the feeling took longer to go a way, and once it had I'd usually have a nasty anxiety/panic/depressed feeling for a day as well.
Once I stopped drinking altogether, I felt back to normal after 3-4 days.

This lasts months. I'm not getting over a hangover, thats why I'm wondering if others have experienced this long term feeling of mild pressure or tension after quitting
I had a kind of constant "Groggy" feeling in My head-Kind of like that fuzzy-headed feeling 1st thing in the morning before My coffee kicked in. That went on for about 5 1/2 weeks after my last drunk. Off the subject, I also had a constant ringing in My left ear for the last 6 months or so-a bit of hearing loss and an "water in the ear" sensation as well. THAT also went away by 6 weeks after My last drunk (which ended in terrible withdrawal, by the way) I believe I sustained some Brain Damage which caused these issues. I've also been on the Vitamin B Complex as well as Multi and Vit C, and reckon the B has really helped (as well as not drinking, of course)

I am at 106 days sober and I still feel like I am hungover some mornings.
I still am not sleeping good.
Once I get up and get going I feel great.
I sort of had the feeling you describe in early sobriety and sometimes I still feel it but it is getting better.

Thanks diffing and doug. Good to know others have experienced similar feelings. I'll give it a few more months then probe the Doc a bit more again if it hasnt gone.
I didn't have a tightness in my head like you speak of Maiden. But months 3-9 I had debilitating fatigue. I went to my doctor who was aware of my drinking amounts and the date I stopped. She sent me to many specialists who found nothing wrong. Then, around 9 months the fogginess and fatigue went away.
I was lucky enough to not have acute withdrawals but wonder if i went thru some kind of PAWS. Either way I'm glad to be back to normal and getting thru it further fortified my resolve to never touch the drug of alcohol again.
I hope what you're discomforts go away soon.
