5 Years
5 Years
Just realized today that yesterday was my five years.
It was a long road and I used many tools. Out patient rehab, therapy, psychiatrists, AA, in patient rehab, and SR.
I started young and knew from my first drunk I would have a difficult time controlling it. I spent most of my drinking career attempting to do so. I failed miserably.
Eventually, about 17 years after that first drunk, I got more miserable than I thought was possible. I hated who I was. When I looked in the mirror I got throw up in my throat. I just wanted to be happy.
The things I've learn in AA and SR have been invaluable. Thank you all for being here to share and help me remain sober AND happy. I finally am.

Congratulations Paper Dolls.
5 years is a big milestone. Just reminded me about life taking on new meaning. Back in the early '80s, AA was conducting a membership survey. To be counted you had to be 5 years or more sober. I was only about 3 years so I didn't count. Very disappointing. lol.
