Going on day 4

I'm glad I found this forum. I'll give it a try. I found this through searching a new symptom, or at least I recognize it as a withdraw symptom now. At night my entire body has an itchy sensation, and I have had bad insomnia. I have been on and off with a few really bad withdraw sweats and mood swings over the past several months. I've been a daily drinker for the past 2 years until recently. I've put together a few weeks at a time, but this last time resulted in about a week long relapse that finally brought me to a two day bender that increased my alcohol consumption incredibly, and surprised me.

I've looked at some of the stories and they give me hope and also remind of where I don't want to go back to.

Thank you all for sharing your hopes and struggles.

Welcome to sobriety and a new life. Even though we may stop drinking our disease continues to grow... that is why we must never forget we are alcoholics and to maintain our sobriety one day at a time. I encourage you to utilize all resources available as you begin your new life.

Same with me, 3 days and cravings are subsiding and I get hope and reminders of where I don't want to go also.

Everything you described is a withdrawal symptom. This itchiness in particular has been discussed here on SR several times. Not everyone gets it but it is pretty common.

Welcome to SR.

You may want to talk to your DR or go to the ER if it get's worse.

Good luck.
