I stayed up late without a drink!

Yes I know the title sounds silly. But as I have said it became my habit to at least sip wine nightly while I watched TV etc in the evening. Last night I stayed up until almost 11 and caught up on some shows without having even a single glass. Stupid "milestone" lol but since wanting to break the habit I have been avoiding that "situation" and going to bed early after my kids do or bringing work home or doing something else in the evening. It felt nice to sit and get through some of the saved stuff on the DVR without having a drink in my hand. And does anyone else watch Modern Family? The new episodes were hilarious! :-)

btw , I'm pretty sure I watched from the beginning, where does the interview thing come from ? Did I miss some Office doc filming thingy early on ?

Yea I read an article once about Modern Family and I suppose they loosely started with the office documentary type thing although not so specifically that it's actually "acknowledged" like the office is from the beginning, so basically they do it, but it doesn't mean anything, as little sense as that makes.

Going to try it again tonight too, I sleep better if I stay up a bit later and my favorite show "Parenthood" comes back tonight at 10 pm so will try to make it through that again before bed without a drink.

Susan,, your "going to try it again" was a reminder to me when i first started sobriety and even now. each night before i fall asleep, i would mentally check off " i made it another day without alcohol" i would stay up late too, but i started to restrict how late i would stay up.

I never really have been an "up late" person anyway, it's just that the habit of having wine at night after bedtime got so typical and familiar that as much as I hate to say it last night was one of the first nights I was up, alone, past 10 pm without so much as a small glass of wine in my system and it felt good and I took note of it.

I haven't been counting persay - looked at the calendar and this is day 18 although I slipped on day 7. I wanted to do at least 30 days completely alcohol free to break the habit. Now maybe will shoot for 60. After that since quantity or excess isn't really my issue I plan to allow for occasion drinks in social situations, family dinners, etc but I plan to keep abstaining for the most part at home other than on occasion just to not fall back into the habit.

I have never been a night owl but if I did stay up late it was because I was drinking.

I know what you mean. I was going to bed early at first and then I tried to avoid some of the things I did while I drank but I can do them now with no problem.

Now if I stay up late it is because, I stayed up late...lol

Thing that gets me about Jay is I really notice every time he has a drink in his hand. Which is a lot. Love the show.
