Weekend Drinking
I'm new to this website and new to my sobriety (10 days). With the weekend here I am reminded of how I used to especially love weekends because I could drink and drink and drink (then drink some more) and I wouldn't worry about what time I had to get up, if I had to look presentable. Most importantly, I could drink in the morning through the whole day. Now that I am not drinking, it's an odd thing for me not to drink the weekend away. However, I am so happy that this weekend I can actually get stuff done and then take SOBER and coherent time for myself. I'm so glad I won't be wasting my weekends anymore wasting myself away.
Have a great weekend!
Have a great weekend!
Hey I am on day 9 so I'm totally with you! I too used to waste the whole weekend sitting in my pants sparking up a can before 8am. Its nice to wake up on monday morning for work without that horrible feeling of dread like im wasting my life.
Keep it up and well done!

Today I am 49 days sober; my 7th weekend in a row sober.
For the last 25 years I was a daily drinker - on weekdays I always had a drink in my hand less then an hour after getting off work.
All week I would look forward to the weekend - but all I did was get totally bombed on Friday night, lay around sick and hungover on Saturday, get drunk again, lay around sick on Sunday, get drunk again and then it was back to work.
Now that I am sober I think about all the years I wasted being wasted. Last night I watched a 2 hour movie and didn't pass out before the end or lose interest in it because I was to drunk to follow it. It felt good.
Was up this morning at 7 AM full of energy and ready to have a great sober day!!

Congrats! Today is day six for me and my first sober weekend in 30+ years. Do I miss it? Yea....like breathing. But I will overcome. I really feel good. Now......if I could just sleep!!!!

I would then drink after work to get energy and repeat the whole cycle again and again, day after day, year after year.
