The anxiety has been constant for 4 days and not letting up. I went to my dr today and she gave me a prescription for Xanax to help me get thru a few days.

It gets better, LadyBug...... I found that my anxiety level went down substantially after 4 or 5 days (basically, after detoxing). Does your doctor know your drinking history? Just be careful because Xanax is quite addictive (and can have bad withdrawals).

As soon as you drop those heavy weights and allow yourself to live in the present.

Today is day 5 and with the Xanax my anxiety is far better. I can scarely say that at first the thought of running away was a very attractive solution. I am better and starting my plan of how to be in social situations and not drink. All of the work and social activities I'm at have alcohol so it will be a challenge but I think I can deal with it this time. Thank you all for the words of encouragement. When I tell some one I don't drink any more then it seems to be their mission to get me to have a drink.....not here and I need this. I'm actually crying as I write this.
