Your life changes completely, you're on another path entirely. I was a miserable, reclusive drunk, a magnum of wine every day. One thing active alcoholics share is very low self esteem. As I made positive changes in my life I began to like myself a lot more. I built a life! You need time to complete education and build a career, it takes therapy and the 12 Steps to change the character defects that keep us from having happy relationships. When I drank every day was the same but in sobriety I have hope.

Short term sobriety? Why bother? You may feel better for a while but when picking up a drink it's immediately back to the miserable existence of being a drunk. Alone, self-pitying, depressed.
