"...you get drunk, call all your friends and threaten to kill yourself, and then the next morning you join a gym." (A favorite and a paraphrase of Dina Kucera's book)
.......when you have to "try" to abstain from alcohol.
A non alcoholic doesn't have to try to abstain. My husband, who loves beer as much as the rest of the normal people, stopped drinking for a while to support me. He hasn't given it a second thought and it's no big deal for him. We've spent the last 9 weekends (this will be the 10th) alcohol free and he couldn't care less.
to add to my first thought of you know when you're an alcoholic when..
....when you're mesmerized by someone who isn't drinking in support of you because he CAN drink and he DOESN'T

Love, without a doubt - is a remarkable thing. Throw it away and one might never know it again. Alcohol, couldn't even begin to compete but addiction is sometimes very strong. However, addiction has a unique way of blinding every sense we could possess, testing to limits, in a very sad way, Love's ability to exist; we need only to acknowledge that Love is far more powerful and has far more meaning than anything we could allow ourselves to be consumed within.

Hi newpower. I did drink the vanilla flavoring and the mouthwash. Literally. Can't have either one in the house. Ever. Alcohol is alcohol. I know someone who drank rubbing alcohol. Luckily, I don't want that one. Sober wishes to you dear.
