Penndel cookie case crumbles at district court

The case of the great cookie caper has crumbled.
Penndel District Judge Daniel Baranoski on Wednesday dismissed all charges against two Penndel residents accused of pilfering baked goods and more from a local church pantry May 2.
Penndel police had charged Mxxxxxxx Sxxxxxx, 38, and Lxxx Cxxxxxxx, 52, with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property; Sxxxxxx was also charged with drug possession and Cappella with conspiracy and criminal trespassing. It’s unclear if the Bucks County district attorney will re-file the charges.
Sxxxxxx had been in Bucks County prison since his May 30 arrest in lieu of 10 percent of $50,000 bail, according to online court records.
The charges were filed after Cxxxxxxx confessed to Penndel police Chief Joe Sciscio that she and Sxxxxxxx broke into Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and stole cookies, coffee, creamer and other food a week earlier. The items belonged to the church’s Alcoholics Anonymous program, police said.
After confessing to Sciscio, Cxxxxxxxx handed over some of the stolen items, including Oreos and bulk packets of sugar, according to court documents. She claimed that Sxxxxxxx still had some of the food at his home, police said.
The police chief spoke with a crossing guard on duty the day of the burglary who recalled speaking to a woman and a man who was carrying a large orange bag. The crossing guard said something to the man in reference to the bag.
“You’ve got a full load there,” the crossing guard remembers saying, according to police.
A church worker also said that other items, including bulk coffee and creamers, had recently gone missing from the church, the chief said.
Police executed a search warrant at Sxxxxxxx's home, and two coffee containers believed to be church property were found, police said. Scuderi family members also told police that the coffee was stolen from the church, court papers show.
Besides the food items, two Suboxone film packets were found in Scuderi’s bedroom, as well as suspected drug paraphernalia, according to police. Suboxone, a narcotic, is used in the treatment of opiate addiction.

it's not a disease (jmho).
in this case it's burglary, plain and simple, stealing from a church is low, but it happens, if the person who did so was a member of the AA group, they certainly did not follow the program.
were they stealing the coffee and creamer, cookies to re-sell? what's your point?
