You know your a recovering alcoholic if...
Heartburn is a memory and no longer a regular reality
You can actually see the effects of going to the gym
Diet soda is something you look forward to
Being bored is fun as it means you have more hours in the day than you realised existed
Enjoying driving people home after dinner parties

You throw away your empty soda and popcorn containers at the movies because you try to think of others more than yourself and you don't want the 16 year old kid who sweeps the floors to have to spend a lot of time in your row.
You no longer wince when a cop car pulls up behind/beside you.
You wake feeling rested and refreshed.
Your family and friends want you around and actually come to you for advice and help because you actually have something to offer.

People are astounded when you tell them that you don't drink anymore.
You get on the interstate highway and remember the time you drove into oncoming traffic.
Look in mirror while gagging on toothbrush and see you have a black.
You share an exciting story with someone and they say "thats the third time you told me that".

You know you're a recovering alcoholic when you're driving on New Years Eve, HOPING to happen upon a sobriety checkpoint, so the local constabulary can see how sober and responsible you are. Remembering how terrifying the prospect of such a thing used to be.

Thanks Bunny! I used to be that 16 year old kid (more like 19 and in college, though.)
