A Sober Birthday... today I am 64 and sober for 37+ years.

These greetings are sent with love to the entire community.

Christ Himself was present, not as an hallucination but a genuinely felt presence, when I took my last (I hope) drink. This was in Berkeley, CA, where I was already subject to sexual harassment in the doctoral program I had just entered, and because I am an incest survivor, the nightmare was compounded.

My three years of "occasional" drinking had brought me very close to vision impairment and adult onset diabetes. This confirms that women are really, really susceptible to alcohol. Years of learning about hyperinsulism and the experience of many people in different 12 step programs have helped me develop compassion for myself, a task which has taken years to begin achieving.

Please know that I am on the side of everyone here who is challenging a highly marketed and highly dangerous poison. My love and respect are yours, always.
With love,
Eagle Heart

Hi and congratulations. Part of the problem today as in the past too many people think of alcohol as a dependable friend and are unable to get honest with them selves as to what is happening in their lives. I think the underlying feeling is to drink because I can start over again. I've suggested 90 meetings in 90 days to see what can/will happen. Misery is refundable. BE WELL
