No blow for me and no need to drive. Colombian snow makes me throw up. Plus the liquor store is 2 blocks from my house.

Hiding your alcohol when living alone and nobody's been to visit for several months.

.

I purchased my last 12 pack of Modelo on June 10 and drank the last beer at 8pm. The detox center actually recommened drinking so that I would not suffer from withdrawal symptonms. I started the detox program the very next day. I have been clean for 48 hours, soon to be 72 at 8pm today.

Eyedrops and breathmints, crap. I know that too well. And yet you still walk to lunch with an attractive colleague and she says "Do you smell like alcohol?" or you are having coffee with her in the morning and she says "So I guess your eyes are always glassy?"

Sigh.....

I can so relate to that I don't know how many times I have woke up and checked my phone to see how stupid I was the night before who I called or text. I would gave calls for 10 to 15 minutes and not remember any of it. But I'm 13 days sober today and going strong.

"Oh you know, I had a really late lunch, I'll just grab a drink while you guys eat."

"Ugh, my eyes are driving me crazy. The pollen must be really high today."

"Could you recommend a wine that's cheap but not terrible? I'm bringing it to a potluck."

"Let's see..." [consults piece of paper] "OK. I'll need a medium size of the bourbon, please, a vodka... oh no, that one's too big, just the other one please... and oh, one second, almost forgot the beer."

"Oh I didn't sleep much. Up late working. No, nothing interesting, just stuff, you know. How are you?"

Public shakes

You know you are an active alcoholic when you make sure to carry plenty of cash on you. Because when you use your debit card they need a signature. And every time you grab the pen to sign your hand shakes uncontrollably. You can't write the first word of your name.

Oh I will add a few:

You still have unidentified "party" bruises at age 42.

Your husband has to inform you what humiliating thing you did the night before because you blacked out and can't remember.

You spend too much money on your kids hoping to alleviate your guilt for being a drunk.

You drink all the beer quickly before your spouse can get it to.

Your very first thought each morning is "I'm never drinking again."

You feel that you may as well just drink water when it comes to weak drinks (drinks that seem to make everyone else tipsy).

You choose restaurants based on their craft beer selection or the strength of their mixed drinks and not their food.

You tell yourself "I'm not an alcoholic. I just like to drink" while starting drinking in the morning and not stopping until passed out at night.

You regret at least one action from the previous day (but usually several).

You think that drinking improves every experience (except for excerize which of course you have stopped doing) - ie the trip to the library with the kid is so much more fun if you chug half a bottle of wine, buying clothes is so much better half in the bag, watching a movie - oh it's so great to do that with one eye closed!

The demon demands to be included in everything.

girls sweater inside out

I should have known I was a hopeless alcoholic when
I got to work once
with my girlfriends sweater on

pointed out to me by a coworker

and why did they point it out ?????

because I had put it on inside out !!!!!

something told me back then
that I was messing up
I just wasn't sure what it was

When you recycle your empties religiously like a proper, environmentally conscious lady----at 3 in the morning in the recycling bin of the neighborhood church.

...it takes a few shots to feel calm enough to sign up to a recovery site.

and vomit becomes your best friend because it makes you feel good enough to keep drinking.

Hope I don't get fired today.. ugh

You moved to an area specifically for the fact the convenience stores all sell beer and wine until 11:00pm
