In praise of dullness and boredom
In praise of dullness and boredom
It seems to be a common occurrence for people to feel a bit lost and bored after quitting their "exciting" life of drinking every day. I'm slowly coming to enjoy the peace and quiet in my life and my mind as I approach 6 months sobriety. What things do you enjoy now that might be considered boring or mundane. Any tips?
As for me, I truly enjoy early mornings drinking coffee and watching and listening to birds from my deck in my back yard. Bliss!
Gotta go put the pot on. The birds are already at it. What "boring" things do you guys do to fill the day and bring a smile to yourself on the inside if not the outside? Have a blessed sober day! BJ

On my abstinence periods, i like to concentrate on workout.
After 1 hour hard training, i feel very very relaxed, great mood, increased libido etc.
But that is not enought. I am trying to fill my schedule with more activities.

I really am thankful to be able to enjoy and be present for the routines of my everyday life and chores. Cleaning, yard chores, caring for my animals. Having tea, reading. Being mindful. When I was drunk I was never really present.
I do that too, redneck! Gardenias and daylillies and daisies are starting to bloom in my boring yard. Boredom rules! Preparing to paint and fix up our bedroom. Doesn't that sound positively mundane? Loving it!
