What has changed?

What has changed for you since you stopped drinking?

For me, I have noticed that I am no longer looking bloated in the face, my skin has cleared and I look younger. Also, and more importantly, I am no longer depressed and problems seem to be more solvable.

Before I had a problem and a hangover to top it off.
Now I'm more equipped to handle any problems that may arise.

My relationship with my husband and kids is better since I quit drinking. Also, I like myself better since I quit. The biggest change is not waking up every day with feelings of guilt, shame, embarrassment, and regret.

On day 35 or so and the only thing I have noticed is that I am actually gaining weight. I was a beer drinker and really thought I would have lost a few pounds by now but have actually gained 5 or 6 pounds or more.

I've lost weight because now that I'm not drinking I'm not craving all that fatty food.
When I was drunk I'd eat battered fish and chips, cabanas, you name it, as long as it was full of fat.

I was the same way...on top of all the empty calories from the beer. That's why I thought I would have lost some weight by now...but I am experiencing the opposite for some reason.

My vision has improved. Not something I expected! Everything is (literally) clearer, more crisp and more vibrant. Things have defined edges.

Don't stop me falling over...I can just see what I'm gonna' hit now before impact. Swings and roundabouts. lol

I too have noticed my face is no longer puffy and red.

I have lost weight. 15 pounds so far!

I have a better sense of smell. Very weird.

My vision has gotten worse, or so it seems. I can't see far away like I used to or maybe I just did not notice it before. I have been to the doctor and I have a prescription I just need to save the money for them.

I have stopped snoring.

My mom lives with me and she told me yesterday since I quit drinking that I have stopped snoring. I used to snore like a drunken sailor. She said the one evening she walked by my room and she had to double check that my truck was home cause it was so quiet she thought I was not at home. Then she said she sat and listened to see if she could here me breathing. Obviously I was...lol

I am happier. I have my bad days but they pass. I find myself laughing a lot more. I mean straight out belly laughs. It feels good

My eyes are no longer red. Still dealing with some fuzzy thinking and headaches. I bought blueberries and dark chocolate yesterday to help my brain along.

Mentally I am doing better, but I have some anxiety associated with finding a job/making a living. But I'm taking risks and putting myself out there. I really think that it is only a matter of time and patience.

I'm doing much better in terms of dealing with frustration and social anxiety.

I thought I would lose weight, but did not.

In general though, my appearance brightened up, no more luggage under the eyes in the am, no hangovers. Overall I'm much healthier.

The rest? SO many to list. I have my credibility back; I'm free to have fun and act like a crazy person when I want to without it being blamed on the booze. I have a better relationship with my husband than I ever did. Although it's not completely better, I am on the whole less depressed.

I really can't recall anything changing for the negative since I stopped drinking.

I am not angry, I was a really pissed off person before. Physically, I hadn't lost weight like I ha hoped but I do look younger. Guess it will take more than ditching wine to get rid of the weight.. But now I have time and no hangover to work on that!
