Back in the Rooms
I took a "vacay" from AA for about six weeks, it was an emotional thing. Someone had offended me by something they said . I went back Wednesday night and again lastnight. I know most AA members will not agree, but I think it was a healthy break for me. I realized how much I missed my AA family and how petty I had been in leaving. The warmth and acceptance I felt when I walked back through the door was exactly how we should all feel. And the person who offended me, I spoke to and moved along. Don't let anyone steal your joy....or your support system!!!
I was just reminded on Friday night that just because someone is sober for a long time does not make them a saint. The person had many years and was doing something at a lead meeting that, to me, was disrespectful.
Principles above personality is a hard rule to follow sometimes. I may not like someone because of their personality but I do respect them for their sobriety.
