Flavor Drinking

Did anyone here at any point in there life ever drink for the flavor? I sure as hell didn't.

I kidded myself... but no - I drank to get wasted.

I'd go the nastiest cask wine if that was the only thing around.

Flavor was....a bonus. I think I had/ have a more adversarial relationship with liquor. Its why I love/loved whiskey. Drinking fire, felt like a battle each time. More pain more...gain? Nope just more pain lol.

When I was "rich" (a phrase I use to describe the way I acted when I was making a decent money as a young cocky sales guy), I used to buy only the best wines - I'd pay top dollar for a bottle and probably drank 2 per night back then, most likely alone watching my TV. It had nothing to do with the flavor whatsoever, it was simply to convince myself I was a "refined" drinker.

I have done that more than once with my vodka/Gatorade combo.

I found that over time, no matter how high the quality, wine no longer tasted good towards the end. It burned my mouth and throat.
