Things I don't miss about bars:
-Having to watch your drink like a hawk so no one spikes it
-Trying not to drink faster than all your friends
-Trying to make small talk when really all you want to do is drink
-Having to take your handbag everywhere with you
-Waiting in the freezing cold for a night bus/the last tube home because no one's in a fit state to be driving

The guy that gives you the full history of nascar, even though you cant stand it.
The guy that borrows $20.00 to get something to eat, the drinks awa $19.50 of it, then hits you up again.
The guy that slaps you an the arm every time he says something, even if he's not talking to you.
The toothless guy that offers you the rest of his half eaten burrito.

-The shallow minded fools who make useless small talk.
-Pretending to hear someone over the loud music/loud people, and pretending I care what they are saying.
-TV's always on a sports channel. (I hate Sports)
- Crabs................long story. :rotfxko

One thing I have recently learned is that being sober in a bar sucks!
I don't have the best hearing to begin with, and bars are so obnoxiously loud, screaming "WHAT???" every other sentence gets old VERY fast.

Middle aged men who forget their age and think any woman is 'fair game'
The drama that takes place in the ladies toilets with drunk women consoling each other over their drunk partners' behaviour...smudged make-up and mascara streaked faces.
Men who like to punch each other over the 'honour' of the above drunken woman whilst she's sobbing in the toilets.
Broken glass on the floor.
Waiting to get served.
Those were the days...why did I think they were fun??

yes another fun day out at the bar
back when I was single
one of the last times in which I went into a bar
rather lower end bar here in Lakeside
there were only two ladies in the bar
sitting around 15 ft from each other
both were crying in their beer
yes I'm talking real tears falling into their real beers
I thought to myself
all indications are
that they may be alcoholic such as myself
because
in those last years of drinking it sure wasn't much fun
great pick up line
hey girls
maybe we could all sit a little closer
and
cry in our beers together
yes another fun day out at the bar
Why did you have to remind me of those bubbly waitresses (lol).........also the smelly sometimes blocked urinals.....but looking up!
This is a great thread and has really set me up fo this mornings meeting.

I avoided those type of bars and the late night drinking hours. I preferred the dive bars that opened up at 7AM. I would be thrilled to know that I have the whole day ahead of me to drink away. I enjoyed the fellowship of other chronic alcoholics sipping their first beer of the day.

there are a few 24 hr bars by me. A few years ago I went in with a friend around 8 pm. It was still light out. I stayed there all night. When I finally got outside the sun had already come up. It was about 6:30 am. we walked to another bar.

haha! Woo girls are obnoxious anywhere, they don't need a bar...
Bars don't bother me really. I love live music so I will go if the band is good.
But I agree with Black Bird...sad drunk people in bars, are, well...sad. That bothers me way more than the loudmouths.

The other night I had to eat out in a Hotel. Didn't order from the Bar but one thing I noticed was how long it took for the food to come. When I used to drink the longer the food took, the better! I could knock back a couple of pints or half a bottle of wine before food and keep the buzz going. Dinner was just going to take up room in my mouth and stomach! Therefore food never took too long to arrive as long as there was alcohol on the table. Now its like "where's the food?" after 10 minutes.
I don't miss forgetting what I ate when I was drunk.

Getting into ridiculous political debates with narrow-minded bigots, losing money playing cards with cheaters, having to pretend I'm interested in whatever game is on TV, having to pretend I'm interested in what bores are talking about, looking around and seeing my companions and thinking 'wow, how'd these people get to be my friends?'...

We went out with friends after work to one of the hip new breweries/bar during a festival last weekend. It really stunk of booze! And that was the longest line I have ever been in for a root beer! People got drunk and annoying and we left. I do not feel like I missed much, and anywhere I need to be loaded to enjoy is nowhere to be.
