For the grace of...there goes I
When sober and trying to help people like I'm always professing...some days are just plain sad...not overall...but for some people I know do you think they are going to get recovery or die?
I know it's a morbid thing to say but in my own recovery I have (seen) so many people not recover, die, hurt and kill. I barely made it through to were I am.
Today...while reading SR posts I got a call from the local hospital ER (police)...asking would I come to the ER...I was listed as an emergency contact for a man I hadn't talked to in years.
Sorry for the list post here:
Doesn't he have any relatives? No.
Drunk. Fell. Broke two vertebrae. Suicidal.
Is he paralyzed? No.
How do you know him? From AA meetings. Use to be a neighbor.
I held his hand.
He had fright in his eyes.
He went to MRI, x-rays, and surgery.
I left.
If he calls of course I will talk to him.
