2 weeks sober, on day 15!
So I've passed the 2 week mark! First time in years. :-)
Today is my birthday, too. So it's kind of sweet. How is everyone doing this month? May is my favorite month of the year. The lilacs blooming here are such a treat. They smell so nice!
I'm reading this book now called Awareness, by Anthony de Mello. He didn't actually write it. It's a transcript of a lecture he gave in the 80s, I believe. It deals a lot with our minds, and how we identify with labels such as success, love, wealth, happiness, and we think we need to do something or achieve something in order to be happy. The idea is that we have happiness within us all along, we just have to drop these labels and choose not to identify with them anymore. There's more to the book than this, and it's really helping me right now.
When I first came to sobriety this time, I instantly tried to replace my addiction to alcohol with something else. Now I'm trying to drop it all.

Two weeks is amazing. Congratulations! You sound really strong. And Happy Birthday. You've given yourself a fabulous present, and by your next birthday it will be more than a year.
May is great here in Western Australia too, the hot weather is gone, and the days are really mellow and bright.
