Here I am, 1 year sober.
What an amazing effort. You had a lot up against you and you got through it. Congratulations, I'm sure you'll be an inspiration to the others just starting out.
Your story hits at home. I'm only 20 and started drinking at 16-17, not everyday, but certain situations. Then it became addiction and I'm almost 21 and struggling. I also smoke a lot of weed too and it's hard to stop. I tell my friends if I started younger I would of never graduated high school, so don't feel bad about that. I'm scared of detox and worried about the future, but know I need it, just like you knew. Your story really helped me because it reminds me of my life. I'm only 20, but already know where this lifestyle is leading me.
Great post. Remember, just keep being who you are - there is no need to be worried or feel ashamed about the education thing, I know how it feels to be preoccupied with such subjects. Your commitment to sobriety should be commended, it is a huge accomplishment and it sounds like you've made some positive life changes and are really learning and growing. Thanks for the post and congratulations.
