I want that....
I want that....
In my Tuesday night meeting there are only about 10 of us who show up regularly. That is every week. Out of those 10 most have long-term sobriety.
One guy has 868 days last night, one has just over 4 years, 5 months, the leader of the group has just over 7 years and the "Godfather" of our group just went over 24 years!
I WANT THAT! These guys are an inspiration to me every week! They are my mentors! I want that in a bad way!
We talked last night about, "not giving back your miracle!" Your sobriety is your miracle! We have gone from being "Powerless" to "Powerful" in that we once were powerless over our addiction and now we have the power to say NO to it everyday!
The miracle of being "Clean, Sober & Strong!
No one can take away your miracle! The only way you can lose it is if you give it back!
Do not give back your miracle! Say NO to it everyday.
Stay Clean, Sober & Strong!

We have a table (8 folks) at my home group that all the good oldtimers sit at... I think you have to have 35 yrs just to get a seat.
On a Sunday morning if there isn't well over 200 yrs at the table then a couple of the guys are sick.
Every once in a while I sit there and they tolerate my 23 yrs but it is inspiring, I know what you mean.
All the best, Dave.

You'll get there Dave, as long as you work the steps, keep your sponsor, sponsor other men and keep at the meetings. it does happen. Those guys were in your position once, remember. And hey, some newcomer with one or two days under their belt is going to look at you in utter and complete awe...150 days might as well be 28 years to them.
Great stuff.

Every one got there a day at a time. You are there.
One 'moment' in my travels came when a meeting was abuzz about a guy who was due that night had 16 years and he stood up drunk and proclaimed the salvation of low alc beer. F that shook me but has helped me to realise it's only a drink away and I do it for me and I do it today. If I die sober, then thank me, and if you do do so do it by being sober, for you.
