Mental obcession has struck

I am now being hit with a strong desire to drink. almost overwhelming I feel like im going crazy.

K, if you keep posting, being aware, feeling et'c' and don't drink you may find that what you are experiencing is what going sane is like. Wish you all the best.

Cravings can get really intense, but they WILL pass. You might also be having some anxiety after drinking yesterday.

Take it a minute at a time and try to do some slow deep breathing..... Also, check out this thread on urge surfing:

Distract yourself, read more posts, whatever you have to do. You can get through this, krazy!

Thanks a lot for that info. im going to give it a try or however many it takes. What i read about making a list about what i could do to ride it thru, cuz when that compulsion hits i forget everythng except gettin that drink.

I thought my mental obsessions had passed, until I tried a non-alcoholic beer. Spent the last week buying a few six packs of it and sitting in drinking them, even though they did not get me drunk.

I feel weird about that, but thankful in a way as it has confirmed to me that I have a serious problem.

Has anybody else done this?

I really hate the cravings. I just come here and hold on to my days that I haven't given in to the beast. Tonight it will be 19 days it's really difficult at times but SR helps to pull me through. Good luck with your journey.
