Is it dangerous?
My AH went to his first AA meeting last night, today will be his first day sober after a hard week of the bottle. Is there any side effects that he will have that could be dangerous to his health? How was it for you-he's is really concerned!

Re: Is it dangerous?
Alcohol withdrawal is serious business. Everyone is affected in a different way. Agitation, insomnia, crawling skin, anxiety. The list is practically endless. The withdrawal and it's associated hardships is usually proportional to the length and volume ingested during the last binge. This is not scientific and in no way meant to be so. It's just my personal experience. Medical attention should be sought in some cases.

I'd call up your Dr. and talk to him/her..... your doc might want your AH to go to a treatment center to detox! Detoxing from alcohol can be very dangerous!
If he does detox at home, if you are worried, go to the ER. If he convulses, call 911!

Here's an article on D.T. Again, I feel levels of consumption and their effects are different for every individual.

Here's another good link that speaks a bit more about withdrawal symptoms.
