First AA meeting tomorrow.
I've decided to attend my first AA meeting tomorrow, at 7:30pm, which is the usual time I would start drinking on a Friday. I think it'll be a good thing for me, but I'm also nervous about the possible triggers.
I just went to my first meeting on Monday night... I was nervous like you are. Everyone was nice & welcoming though... Someone actually came to me afterwards and asked me if I knew what to do next. I call her everyday and check in.
I sat in my car creeper style before I went in... But I forced myself to get out of the car!
Do you have the phone app for SR? It helps me when I've hesitated to get out of the car. Just a suggestion!
Wishing you strength on your journey.

Congratulations. I went to my first AA meeting 36 years ago tomorrow and have been sober since. My only question is, what's wrong with going tonight? Why put it off? As far as triggers go, if going to an AA meeting causes you to drink, or think about drinking, I'd say you need more than an AA meeting. Good luck!
I went to my fist one not long ago, but was 10 or so minutes late and they were already up and running. Through my experience I'd say try and get there on time if you can as they may focus the group a little more on introducing you to things.

i rememebr sitting in the parking lot and calling my friend and told him where i was.
i told him to drive here as fast as he could so i couldnt get outta the parking lot.
i was petrified.
But i walked thru those doors. and the first two people that spoke to me have had such a life changing effect one me.
i am at a year and half and AA has truly saved my life.
the fellowship and working the steps.
and trust me i didnt want any friends.
but now that i have them i would never give them away
