I have been sober for 2 months now, I don't even think about Alcohol anymore, everytime I go shopping and see the liquor asle, I just think to myself "That's only poison, don't need that" and walk away and that seems to work. I drink alot of water and I think that has really helped too, I quit on my own, no help from anyone other than myself. My friend who came back to town after several months away, turns 21 today and wanted to have a couple drinks tonight with me, I told him sure but I'll just drink pop, let's see how that goes.

Mr Tumble, we call it 'pop' in different parts of the US. When I lived in CO it was pop - CA it is soda!
2 months+ for me too, but I think about alcohol every day. I just chose not to buy it or drink it. I can't for my own physical health.
I do not make a big deal about what to order and no explanation is or should be needed.

My wife is from the Midwest and always called it pop. I am from the South where all colas were called Coke, no matter what the brand.

I thought it was a midwest thing, too. Always soda on the east coast as far as I know.

I'm At 3.5 mo sober from a HEAVY painkiller habit. Anyways I have always thought of how much harder this task would be if my drug of choice was alcohol. It's everywhere in our society, as I'm sure all of you know. Anyways congrats, stay strong!! Peace
