2 years !
2 years !
Hello everyone,
Yesterday marked my 2 years of continuous sobriety !
It can be done, do not EVER give up, and always believe in yourself !
Only after getting HONEST with myself, and ACCEPTING the fact that I am an alcoholic and can NEVER drink again, only then things started to get better.....
No such thing as a functional alcoholic. By my definition, a functioning alcoholic is an alcoholic who can not get honest with him or herself.
Life is great now, I can go and do anything.... A new sense of freedom, NO MORE HORRORS of the night before, or shakes & cold sweats after a binge weekend..
All the best, and I invite you to read some of my old threads from 9 years ago !

Congratulations, TorontoGuy - this is awesome. I've been sober for 38 days and I think I'm just starting to understand what you mean about honesty. Do you ever struggle with staying sober anymore?
Fantastic job, Toronto! I completely agree with you - once we accept that we can never touch the stuff again, the healing begins. I just wish it hadn't taken me so long.
We are proud of you.
