It's one of those days..........
Sitting here at the office, all stressed out over many things... Usually, and this will the first Friday in a long time - I head down to the pub to mask my problems and other issues.... Need to stay strong today, and hit the gym instead... One day at a time I keep telling myself, and what happened in the past should be left there and I can't beat up myself over it..

That's right man. These Friday nights are killers eh? I know the feeling. Wrap up the weeks affairs, head out to the pub for a tall frosty one. Dang it man, just reading your post put the taste in my mouth. Cunning all right. Actually telling myself a couple cold ones wouldn't hurt. Yeah, Friday nights in downtown Tarana! I can hear the sounds and smell the smells.

There are a lot of " firsts" in Sobriety I have found out . Dont you hate it ?
Ring a friend, before you finish work, ring your Sponser , go home a different way , and the gym sounds like a great idea.
A HUGE choccy milkshake helps too! mind you , then you would need the gym lol

gym and dvds and if you need the social contact, catch some kind o meeting
I'm headed to the only other NA meeting in this 1500 sq mile valley- but i've driven a lot further just to party down, reckon i can invest this tiny percentage of time to my recovery. My early recovery days were filled w/ catching up on books, movies that i had not seen [or remembered too much about] - much to my suprise, there's a bunch of cool stuff out there...

Hey TG, Toronto would be tough for me. In my younger days, we would drive over there for a weekend, hit the downtown bars. Seemed like there were so many bars down there. I did like those all night sausage vendors though. A little food always helped ease the hangover the next day.
Changing routine is great or me. I try and hit a Friday night AA meeting. It helps me recharge my spiritual bateries after a long, stressful week. Glad to hear your keeping sober tonight.

Heya TG! Good to see you! I havn't been on these boards in a couple of days, so I'm playing catch up, hehe.... That thing someone said earlier about alot of "firsts" in sobriety is awesome! I found that in my early sobriety I thought of alot of things in that light... Just cuz it was so different to be doing ANYTHING minus drink in hand. And the farther behind me that last drink became, the more I was doing stuff just for the sake of Doing it! And I hang out with people because I enjoy their company, not because I'm drunk. Things are alot cooler this way! Reality is more.... REAL! It does get easier!

I had my first party since being sober last night , and I had a ball! Can you believe they were handing out FREE shots of Bailys all nite
I used to love Bailys !
it was an engagement party , the nephew of a long time sober AA friend , and it seemed to me no one was drinking to excess , and I was quite comfy

Good for you Lee ! I am sure it will get easier as the time goes on... It better, 'cuz I have to organize 2 stag parties this summer, and to that, I am in both weddings...
