6 Months sober:D...
Finally made it to 6 months! It's been kinda hard but very rewarding. In the 6 months I finished a course got a job working in that field got my health and fitness back and also the trust and respect of my family.
I've always had 'social' anxiety and I know that's the main reason I drank, it's gotten a lot better but it's still my major issue. (anyone got any ideas other than xanax or valium lol) I really have to start to get more involved in AA because that's where I learned about the disease and how cravings 'kick in' after the first drink.
I still get the 'poor me' attitude a fair bit that I can't go to a club and get off my face but in the end that wasn't fun anyway.
Anyway, this is a great forum and thanks everyone for their support.

Great job Shaun !
Congrats on 6 months , .....an important milestone (imho)
I suffered from the same sort of thing as a young guy. Luckily, a buddy and I got involved with a free training course (selling books door-to-door) as a joke.
After a Summer of selling World Book door-to-door, most of that social anxiety dissappeared.
Replaced with a sense of awe .......seeing how some folks lived !?!
And learning that rejection isn't so bad , after all. LOL !
The acting class is a clever idea. That'd scare the bejeeesus outta me too !!!

Congrats on the six months - wonderful!
I had a lot of anxiety issues as well, and they faded fairly quickly after I started working the steps of AA. A lot of the fears that caused my anxiety soon faded and I was able to walk through some of those fears, and in doing so, gave me more confidence. I hope you give it a shot - you might find that it will work for you as well.
