What are you grateful for?
I am just back from Christmas Eve dinner at my sister's house. I am grateful that nobody is in jail tonight for murdering my mother. Her constant negativity is very, very draining. She really should be on medication or something. I have headache and back pain now. Am going to crawl into bed with a cup of hot milk. I am also grateful for:
I am grateful that I am over one year sober. In spite of my mother, this is the happiest I have been in some time. I wish all of you the best and may you all have a healthy and happy 2013 I raise my cup to all of you!
Merry Christmas!
- My sobriety, this time last year I was just three weeks sober. I can't remember last Christmas at all, I was in such a fog.
- Being back in college, doing a postgraduate course
- My health, I had a seizure after I stopped drinking.
- My new life and taking an interest in things again. Little things like making sure I wear nice clothes and make up, and eat proper food.
- I am grateful that I have enough money to do the above.
- I am grateful that I have good friends. And I am grateful for my new friends. I went on a date last week for the first time in a long time.
- I am grateful that I have a very good dad.
- I am grateful for you guys at soberrecovery. I read the forums every day and I find you guys a great help
- I am grateful for my good and wise therapist.

I am grateful that this year I have a choice as I whether I can be happy around the holidays by drinking and just enjoying everyone's company.
I have been restored to sanity thru the 12 steps and har been placed in a position of neutrality regarding drinking. A position I have not had the pleasure of being grateful for in an extremely long time.

I'm grateful to be alive...Safe, sane and sober. Looking forward to my second sober Christmas in many years.....What better gift could I ask for?....Great post.....A happy and safe holidays to you and yours!!
I am grateful for my son and partner. That I have a great job that I live and was able to buy a house this year. Grateful I'm getting a grasp on this before it is completely out of control.
