Celebrating Soberly
Celebrating Soberly
Hey all, Happy Holidays to you.
Well I graduated college and passed my state boards to become a nurse. Just received my license today. I can't believe how excited I am to start my career feeling the best I've ever felt. My anxiety has decreased dramatically and I no longer feel depressed all the time. I'm in the best shape of my life both mentally and physically. Funny my life is really about to begin after age 30. Interestingly enough my 100th day sober was the day I became an RN. You couldn't pay me to have a drink to celebrate. I went running instead.

Congrats on passing your boards. Not an easy task...
I just started running about 2 months ago. I finished my first ever 5k last Friday. My time was not good LOL super slow, but I did it! Like you, I find running a faaaaar better way than booze to celebrate, unwind, build confidence, and get "high". Booze is a bullsh*t liar.
Thank you for sharing this, Meg. I don't even know you, but I'm super proud of you!

That's amazing! Congratulations For some reason this post made me think of "Oh, the places you'll go" by Dr. Seuss. It's so exciting, yet humbling knowing the many things we can achieve in sobriety

Thanks everyone you guys are the best, my friends, my rocks. I'm excited to start helping others most, in whichever area I practice. Perhaps someday I will work with patients struggling with abuse. I'm sure it will help reinforce my own sobriety.
TheEnd: I'm mildly training for some smaller races. There is a fun 5k in the summer which I'll participate in since I run at least that almost daily. I love all kinds of exercise, it's become so important to me for a variety of reasons. 5k first, then 10, then who knows right?..
