Gratitude - Looking at it from the Other Side of the Fence

I went to a meeting Wednesday night and gratitude was the topic of course, but it wasn't what we are thankful for. It was what we are thankful that we DONT HAVE. I thought it was really neat to look at it from this perspective and I wanted to share it here as well.

I am thankful that I DONT have to wake up with the shakes. I am thankful that i DONT have to be afraid of killing someone driving drunk. I am thankful that I no long wake up in strange places and cannot recall how i got there!!!

I'm thankful that I don't have to struggle to remember the lies to cover up the other lies.

Love it! I'm grateful I don't have (at least I'm growing out of) the totally selfish point of view of the active alcoholic anymore. Thanks for sharing this FF!

I'm grateful that I don't wake up at 3am anymore, my heart racing, wondering if that's the day my organs will finally give out.

I'm grateful that I don't wake up needing a drink. It would be hard to keep the first beer or two down because my stomach was such a mess. I would also look at my phone (if I didn't lose it) & look into my pockets for drinking tickets while staggering around the city drunk & higher than kite.
