Imaginary smell of booze?

I am totally sober for 3 days now. No empty bottles in the house, cleaned my bed 2 times and my clothes, took showers, went to work today etc.

Anyone else smell booze in their houses after sober? Is it in the walls for heaven sakes? It's not a trigger or anything. Just wondering if it's imaginary or something

I don't want to freak you out, but I know it took me well over a week to lose that smell - multiple showers nonwithstanding, I suspect I was sweating it out from the pores....

Now I feel like a marinated pickle. LOL!

It's nice to know that 20 years drinking not equals 20 years smelling it

For the first two weeks or so I thought that most things had a faint whiff of alcohol to them...didn't know if it was wishful thinking (ha ha) or not.

Funny thing is that even now I can smell it a mile away!

This is so weird. I swear I could smell booze/alcohol in my car today. No idea why. and I've been sober for months.

Yup! had it, still happens from time to time. A over ripe banana smells just like the morning after to me.

I walked into the hall of my apt building this evening and got a feeling of dread because it smelled like booze breath, at least that was my initial reaction, then I realized that beyond the alcohol smell was the flowery scent of someones perfume or hairspray.

other times I am pretty sure I just imagine it, my heart always stops a little.

I get that too Patman, even now after 8 months sober. I hope it's not me! It might just be my sense of smell coming back... I always smell stale beer, which is what I drank. The smell of actual alcohol doesn't freak me out any more. I work with it to make varnish and I don't even associate it with something you drink, but that acrid smell is always a bit too reminiscent.

3 days and you are still detoxing. You are just smelling what everyone else smelled when you were actively drinking.

Keep staying stopped!

I think these types of hallucinations were common for me. Sometimes I taste whiskey and coke. Over times it seems to be situation dependant. I occasionally get them now.

Took me a week to sweat out the repulsive smell. Think it's your body getting rid of the last acetaldehyde, google it, evil stuff.

I never have smelled alcohol when I quit drinking, but I would avoid the general public and anyone due to the AWFUL body odour that occured whenever I stopped after a long binge. No shower could cut it...it was terrible. I felt DISGUSTING.....I thought something was wrong with me but now I know it was just my body getting rid of all the toxins from drinking so much.
