I found 17 kitten in a trash bags

I posted this in the Newcomers forum, but this experienced really got to me:

I was driving down a major road, and noticed a black trash bag barely moving. I got that gut feeling that things weren't right, so I pulled over to check it out. There were 17 kittens! What the hell is wrong with people? Drive 20 miles more to the greatest Animal Shelter around!!!!! I drove there like a mad woman _ I let them out of the bag, and you can only imagine what happened in my car on the way. I don't care. I am happy I saved them and took them to a non-kill shelter, but people really, really scare me. I hope that I never see that side of humanity again. I am not writing to tell you how great I am - I have plenty of faults - but animal cruelty is not one of them. Take care.

THE MORAL TO THIS STORY IS THAT IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN DRINKING I WOULD HAVE CARED LESS, OR BEEN HOME DOING NOTHING.

oh Sissy!!!!! Thank goodness YOU came along and I completely appreciated the point you made about where else you might have been. Thank you for being you. I simply do NOT understand people sometimes.

Such cold black hearts in some people.

Animal cruelty is terrible. I remember when I was out dirt biking (not a huge fan of it) with my dad, and I needed to drop off someone for some reason in my car. We were approaching a group of cattle on a dirt road. I got right up to the cattle honked the horn reved the engine and they started to get out of the way. As they did and I put it in gear and started to accelerate. The person I was transporting said "WOW whats that!?". I caught a brief glimpse of something small and dark in the middle of the road, out of reflex I positioned the suv to go over it center so w/e it was had the best chance of survival. I looked in the rear view mirror and saw what looked like a very small, ratty, sad looking animal. I dropped the guy off and on the way back stopped where the cattle was. Out of the "mooing" chaos was a small gross looking kitten. I knew it was wrong to leave it, but it was so gross lol. So I said to myself "OK, if I have a towel in the back it's this cat's lucky day". Sure enough I did.

I ended up taking it home, and mom had an "OH... this is the cat you told me about over the phone?.... eww" reaction lol. The cat ended up growing up with us and only liked my Mom and, hated my brothers and for the most part anyone else. The story was "It saw that range rover and wanted a piece of that life. So it came running" lol.

We have a feeling a whole litter was left out there to "fend for themselves" by the jerks that left them all there to basically die and be picked off by hawks. I know what you mean, some people are terrible. I'm glad those kittens got picked up by someone like you and have a fighting chance now!

I am not writing to tell you how great I am - I have plenty of faults - but animal cruelty is not one of them. Take care.
You have a lot less faults than most people and certainly a lot less than those idiots that left 17 kittens stranded in a trash bag. You did the right thing and deserve a pat on the back.

Good job!

Please be kind...neuter your pets
Be even kinder...adopt pets from a shelter

If you can no longer have pets ...shelters can use your
assistance ..please ask your local one "How can I help?"

I cried all night thinking about the sadness of the world, and how evil some people are. What happens that we do not know about? I am determined to be the best person I can be (which may take some work!) I know there is a lot of good in the world - you SR people are an example....

I am taking the day off to go to the shelter.....those kitties need to be bottle fed. Lord only knows what happened to their poor mother. Say a prayer for them.....some may not live. Thank you.

Thank god you noticed that the bag was moving a little bit! I am the same way, if I see an animal in need I automatically jump into action. It is so so SO sick how people treat animals. I would be lost without the affection of my puppy, she makes even the worst day okay. I sometimes wonder what happened in these people's pasts that they feel the need to hurt defenseless and innocent animals?

It's so good to hear about the good others
do in the world. To bring a smile and warmth
to our hearts. Those little kittens are given a
chance of life thanks to the goodness of your
heart.

I am a pet owner myself who lost one of my
baby boy cats who was up in age and had
diabeties a week ago. However, I know he is
without pain and frollicking happily in the Heavens
above. This morning while walking around my
pool, I saw a large frog diving to the bottom.

Like most frogs and spiders or other animals
ending up in the pool, i grab the net and fished
him out, save another small life, and set him free
on dry land. I petted him and scooted him to
watch him leap away.

Back when I was newly wed and into my alcohol
addiction, I wanted babies right away and to be
a stay at home mom. My 1st husband bought me
gerbils instead to take the place of having kids
emmediately. It wasnt what I wanted and thus
didnt treat the gerbils fairly.

Eventually the gerbils were gone and I had my
2 wonderful kids down the road and never wanted
anymore pets. I was pretty sure my Lord wasnt
going to let me have anymore pets because of
the Gerbils I had abused. THEN.......

8 yrs into my recovery, my then husband came
home to ask us if I wanted a little kitten out of
a litter from a co-worker. emmediately I said no.

THEN, something came over my heart and I
accepted not one kitten but 2 that were brothers.
Lucky and Gus. What joy it has been to experience
raising loveable little furry pets in my home. They
have been with me for 14 yrs where Lucky just
passed away. God must have known I had it in my
heart to be kind and caring to animals and that
because I was sick in my alcohol addiction, taking
care of Gerbils or any animal wasnt the right time.

My pets I got after I got sober were and are gifts
in recovery and what an awesome gift to cherish
in my 22yrs soberity.

Abuse of any kind to anything is sickness.

Sissy that is a wonderful thing you did!! It is so sad to see how people can be cruel and heartless....I have a hard time watching that animal cruelty commercial on my gawd it is so heartbreaking, ....How people can be so cruel is beyond me....I think those kittens were lucky that a little Sissy angel came along and took the time to investigate and saved them!!
