Memory of my alcoholism
Memory of my alcoholism
I used to love turning the clocks back an hour. That was one more hour in the bars to drink.
How far I've come from that. Now I love having that extra hour in the morning, seemingly getting up even earlier, and having extra time to read or get out for a run
I'm so grateful to be sober

Yeah I stayed up late watching Alabama-LSU (roll tide!), sober of course. I enjoyed the extra hour. Had bacon, eggs, cornbread and leftover black eyed peas for breakfast. I could have never contemplated such a meal if I had been drinking last night.
It is good waking up sober.
It is good waking up sober.
There's so many things, from itty bitty
to huge, that become more noticeable
once the fog clears from your brains
from being numb, cloudy, disoriented
from the use of poisonous substances
we put in our bodies over the years.
We come to appreciate them and grateful
to have them as a part of our lives and even
time becomes precious like each sober breathe
we take. Hold onto it and enjoy.

I love the early morning ritual too....
i spent most weekend mornings fighting off a headache, hangover hurling.
when i was 3.5 months sober (the first time) i got a dog, we love our long morning walk. I believe he has kept me from going back even when i had a relapse, it was a short-lived 1-day thing, because the dog's care is so important. (any drunk can scoop a litterbox and feed the cats, but a dog requires real daily care)....Go Sammy! sammy.jpg

I agree with Pip! I used to LOVE the time change because it meant an extra hour at the bar or in my garage drinking. This is the second year that I have enjoyed sleep rather than a drink at the bar. Tell ya what, it's not bad. Woke up refreshed and smiling Not a hangover......We have come a long way
