Exclamation worried about withdrawals...what can i prepare for

Today is Day 1 for me (3rd attempt in 17 years)...my longest time was over a year. I know the next week is going to suck, physically and emotionally but i want to succeed without torturing my husband and kids...suggestions for a smooth-ish transition/detox? Thanks

Possibly start by seeing your doctor?

It's what I am doing. Leaving for the appointment now.

Good luck. I am not on Day 1 yet, but maybe I will be. We'll see.

Hi and welcome Green

Another vote for seeing the Dr - alcohol detox can be rough for some of us - it's best to be safe.

you might find this thread useful tho:

A doctor visit is a great idea =)
Personally, whenever I get the desire to drink (which is daily) I just grab a gallon of water that has taken the spot where my booze used to be. From there, I make a beeline to the gym. I saw that you have a husband and children, so going to the gym maybe out of the question. However, you can grab a bottled water and just take a relaxing stroll around the neighborhood. Take in the small details to keep your mind occupied, for example, the freshness of the air, the vivid colors of planets, what are other people doing outside etc.
Best of luck =)

I found healthy nourishment helped to accelerate the healing process. Fresh fruit, vegetables, and whole grains.
