pub scene

Everyone I know socializes in pubs, and I have no desire to ever set foot in one again......

I'm only 7 days sober but I just don't like the idea of standing around crowded pubs watching friends consume drink after drink....talking sh*te while their at it.

I don't really have a point to make but maybe this solitary existence at home suits me.

I know I will save a ton of money used to go out and spend £100 on myself!

You are bang on. There is no need to be there...

In early sobriety, it was absolutely critical I avoided such places.

I like the idea of spending the money you would have spent on drinks on something tangible for yourself!

On another note.....I like the idea of collecting AA coins to mark dates of sobriety, but I don't want to join AA.....

Maybe I'll get something metal engraved when I get some time under my belt...

A member who calls himself Scolova (Scott) had a token engraved with his quit date, and it looks pretty spiffy. You can see it by checking his profile. I think he ordered it online, but I am sure any engraving shop will do this for you, Vivid. A PM to him about this would get you all the details I'm sure.

If your quit date is your 'for good' quit date (it is, isn't it?), you could get that token anytime, like now for e.g.
