What to do on a Saturday night?

Since I am on day 1 of not drinking I have already found the only way to keep myself from craving alcohol is to be doing stuff. I don't have anyone to do anything with tonight and I'm trying to avoid parties at all costs. Any ideas for keeping me busy?

Do something with your hands, cook, sew, a puzzle. Stay away from any party scene and try to find time for just you. Read a book even

Stay here for a while, or go into the chat room. That can help you.

Make your grocery list and go shopping...not many crowds there on Saturday night! Pick out some snacks and come home take a hot shower and settle in for some tv and nibbles. If you're antsy, throw in some laundry and cleaning chores....and keep posting!

one thing you'll learn is that you can do anything you want when you aren't tied to a bottle.

You can drive safely, go shopping, go to a movie, get dinner, cook dinner, etc etc.

you can remember what you did tomorrow morning without cringing too.

perfect. I started learning the bass once I got sober. I got a Squier Affinity P-bass. I've been playing for almost a year now. I'm not that great at it, but I'm learning and it gives me something to do when I have nothing else to do.

This is a question im really concerned with. Im 23 and pretty much everyone I know drinks. Staying home on the weekends depresses me and I usually end up going out aka drinking. I don't want to stay home but I dont want to drink or go anywhere that might tempt me, i'm only 2 days sober and it's usually the weekends or events that I end up having that "one drink". Any ideas on what I can do socially with people my age?

Hi Veekay. In response to your question why not try a local gym or rec center? I've found that exercise and the atmosphere around a gym works wonders for the mind and body!
