Still Suffering Real Bad
My name's Gary. I rarely post but I'm always on here reading 24/7.
I'm 37 years old and have been a severe alcoholic since age 22.
Last year I had a health scare and had a CT scans for abdominal pain - they found a liver cyst (not cancerous).
I stopped for a while but resumed drinking again from job stress. My organs feel like they're on fire. Pain everywhere. I'm going to the doctor again. She knows my history of alcoholism.
I try to go to meetings but the truth is I can't drive by a store and not buy booze. I think I'm literally dying. My drinking has progressed to dangerous and crazy levels. I'm hungover as I type this.
I don't need a response. I just needed to tell somebody. I'll see what the doctor says. Thanks - Gary

and mentally.
Prayers coming your way for clairty and healing

I was surprised when health problems didn't just make me automatically stop drinking. I hope you get the help you need x
Hi and welcome back Gary
I was like that when I found SR.
I'd really encourage you to post more...somehow being part of a community of people who understood really helped me find the strength and courage in myself to make the changes I needed to make.
I don't believe anyone's situation is ever hopeless...you can turn this around Gary
hope to see you around some more

Gary thank you for your post. My 21 yo son is an alcoholic. Currently in recovery and doing well. I read this section of the board often so I can try to understand what my son feels. I'm learning to have compassion for him while setting boundaries.
You are in my thoughts and prayers and I do hope that you are able to find hope and peace in a program that works for you. Please know that your words have touch me to my core. There are good people here at SR please post more often.

Hi Gary. I'm Josh. I'm in Mesa, AZ as well and attend daily meetings here. I'd be happy to talk or meet you at a meeting or something. If you like, send me a private message and we'll chat.
