steps matter when going to AA?
Just checked my local AA schedule, and the nearest one says "11th step meeting" . If one hasn't made the first step...do they go? Thats the only one open, except until 6:00 or later. Does that mean I can't go?
You can go to any meeting. The nice thing about the 11th step is that prayer and meditation is great at any stage in sobriety so you may find some helpful information. I would suggest letting the other members know that you are not at that point in your step work and avoid sharing on anything outside of your own experience.
Any meeting is better than no meeting!

You can totally go. You can always go to a meeting. You may not be on that step, but you can always benefit from attending. I don't think you should ever think you aren't "prepared" or on the same step as you should be. When I was in rehab, I sat in on many meetings that had to do with the different steps and that was before I even knew what steps were.
Any step meeting is a good one! You don't have to have gone through them to go to the meeting, they will just discuss that particular step, so listen up! I love step meetings I find them very powerful.
Let us know how you liked it.
