Physical changes, facial swelling
Hello,
For the last 9 or so months I have been drinking liquor and beer hard. Usually around 2-3 times a week but on those days I would drink till near blackout. Over the course of a year I slowly began to see my body change. Skin color and major facial swelling. I finally had enough of it and I am on day 4 without drinking and looking to keep it going. About how long and what kind of physical and other changes should I expect to see?

The problem is we "get well quickly"...too quickly.
This leads us to believe at some point that it wasn't that bad.
I can share that when I stopped drinking that my appearance would improve quickly.
I hope this inspires you to continue to pursue good health and sobriety if that is your goal.
Welcome!

That's awesome Jenni!
And Rambo..... ya never know what getting sober is going to bring. For me, getting sober came with an additional 30 or more pounds. UGH. ......not that getting sober CAUSED me to gain weight.....that's just what happened.
The main thing, for me, is this: sobriety has to be at the top of the list (actually, for me, it's #2 - right after "my relationship with my HP"). So for me, it's God first, recovery second.......and every SINGLE thing comes after that - money, sex, jobs, etc.... If I lose my first two, everything else on the list goes from being a goal to "impossible." I have to remember what my priorities are and keep working toward the ones at the top of the list.

HOnestly im behaving like a vein person as im constantly looking in the mirror to see if my fat red face has got better, one of the main reasons i chose to quit was i was embarresed that a friend i now who is also a gp guessed i had a drink problem just from looking at my face, they have never seen or heard me drunk
I don't think my face and skin improved that fast. I think the combination of good sleep, better food, vitamins, and drinking water helped. That 2nd pic is pretty old now and I think my face has improved since then.

I noticed by day 5 my blotchy nose and red spotty cheeks have gone away!! been drinking so many years thought that was normal ugg well its not on day 10 now and my tummy is less swollen. Amazing what a bottle of red and 5 shots of vodka does do you on daily basis. Gross Gross Gross
