I had two (alcohol related) shirts, Heineken and Jack Daniels. I used one during my last painting project and threw it out afterwards, the JD shirt is in with the dust rags (I believe).
I've been digging in our backyard for a future drainage system and I keep finding bottle tops from yyyeeeaaarrrs back.

Cheese1, gunna chunk the 6 beers from your fridge? You are FANTASTIC. I have nothing in my home now that is a reminder of my drinking career. Regretably I had to chunk some of my oldest dearest friends too.

Before I even came home I asked someone to get rid of all my empty cans and bottles in my room.

I did find a beer in my room later, I moved it to a different area of the house where someone else will drink it.

I would have dumped it down the sink, but its almost a reflex to drink it right after you cracked it. didnt want to risk it.

But the best thing a through away were people I thought were my friends.

Best of luck.

I honestly didnt really throw anyting out, other than my way of thinking.

I am a chef so I have all the glassware and will let people enjoy drinking in my home, even though most dont out of respect. I can say like Scovla I did turn all my drinking shirts into rags and yard clothes. I dont need to be a billboard. And like most all those supposed friends which were all bar buddies. I did toss them, or they tossed me , which ever ... I am better for it, and waiting with the door open for any of them to walk into the rooms.

Good stuff... Sobriety is just to nice for the soul.

I got rid of my drinking buddies, they were all disinterested in me anyways once I got sober. I rid my house of alcohol entirely, and packed away wine glasses (though my drinks usually came straight from bottles or in regular ol' water glasses).

I used to do that..... and then I'd be back the next day buying more booze.

Good luck.

I gave away the hard alcohol. Kept the beer and wine in the house because my husband drank that...it was my recovery, not his.

The only other thing besides the booze was (strangely enough) the mixer I used to use. I still can't look at the stuff without thinking of all those awful years.

Cheese, that is a tremendous idea, throwing away the alcohol you have in the house. Keeping some 'just in case I fail' is planning to fail, and we are planning to succeed around here.

I poured the better part of a 60 oz bottle of vodka down the toilet one morning, I can still remember the smell of it. Flipping the lever and watching it swirl away was a powerful image for me, sending that booze where it belongs. Then the wine went to the neighbours, and any empties went out the door too, and there were plenty of those, over 100 empty 40 ozers. Yikes! Getting rid of all of this did two things for me, it removed the immediate temptation and also made it clear in my mind what I had chosen to do.

Well done.

... oh darn, I forgot about my Mr. Beer brewing kit!
I had wanted one of those for MANY years and finally got it as a Christmas gift (2011) .. about the time I realized alcohol was killing me & I needed to quit.
I boxed it all up, but still need to put it on craigslist, give it away or maybe just chunk it.

I've been keeping my living places a zero alcohol zone for years
real friends still visit and we drink .....Iced Tea...

Yes early on...I did clean out all the drinking items.
Sold the bar and bar stools ...gave away crystal drinking glasses etc.

The most mportant was I gave up thinking alcohol was for me...
Mental destruction/depression is why I quit forever.
No way do I ever intend to drink...it's no longer a struggle.

I did this before, cleaned out my closet, under my bed, in my couch etc and got rid of all the bottles and nips. I poured out the rest of the booze lying around the house and I did good for a while there. I felt great throwing all that **** away.

Thumbs up

Anything to do with alcohol or drugs, was, and still is, totally out the door forever and ever. And ever, lol.
