New here, but hopefully permanent!

I've been drinking for over 20 years, mainly beer then progressed to beer and Hot Damn, (cinnamon schnapps) about a 6 pack and a pint a day respecfully.

My face is constantly red, and I have bags under my eyes. I haven't had a drink in a couple of days and it seems my face and eyes are worse.

It is time for me to stop. I have high blood pressure, am under weight. I was wondering, is it normail to have bags under your eyes and will that and the redness go away?

I realize this has been asked on here before, but I couldn't find the thread or threads....

Welcome to SR...If you stop drinking the redness and swelling will get better....Your whole life will get better...Do you have any idea what kind of recovery plan you plan on using?....Or what a recovery plan is?

As Sapling has said, the redness and swelling will most likely get better. But, it might be an idea to talk about it to your doctor as well. These things can be symptoms of a lot of other things as well.

What you drank isn't important. Beer, Schnapps, wine, it's all the same. All contain alcohol.

I urge you to go to AA. If not AA, SMART or AVRT. There are people here that can help with any of them, you have but to ask

I can't think of a single thing that did not improve
when I started my AA recovery.
Like you I was a drinker for many years and it took
about 2 months for me to get back in physical/mental shape.

It's wise to check with your doctor and be honest about your drinking.
Especially as you do have on going high blood pressure.

Welcome to our recovery community...
Glad to know you are here and getting sober.
It's the wisest thing I ever did...
