Tough Gig Today

Got together with friends down at the Beach. Took up residence about 20 feet from the "Tiki Bar" where we hung out and let our kids play in the sand while we all talked. Every other male there was part of my past as a binge drinker and all are well aware of my current goals. Great day, no pressure from them but the smell of Beer and Cigarettes was tough at times. I pulled through with the help of a few Diet Cokes and had a fun day.

Next Saturday, the real test. My first gig with my band since making the decision to take a break from the beast. This week I will meditate and focus on my diet in preparation for this coming test. Though I know that I can do it and have every intention to come through as focused, happy and healthy as I am at this very moment.

Only I can create the problem again so it is only I that can help to prevent it. Focus, Health, Meditation, Kirtan and Inner Guidance will power me through.

Most of the time those situations don't bother me too much.
Then there are the times it just hits me hard and I feel the need to get to a meeting.
So far I've had one episode with the neighbors having a little drinking party in their front yard with my wife that got to me bad enough that I actually went to an extra meeting the next day, the meeting made me feel 80% better. My sobriety date is 11-1-11.

As a sober musician myself, I know you can do this.
