So...
So...
Well, it's been eight days now since I got sober, thanks to the very kind people on SR. It's been incredibly hard, and I have still had terrible bouts of depression and aching loneliness. But my new sponsor is great, and I'm getting to meetings, doing what's suggested.
I'm waiting to go to rehab, but have many doubts, and waves of panic about leaving my home and sons for three months.
But tonight I'm just incredibly grateful to be sober.

Congrats on 8 days - That's a terrific accomplishment.
As to the rest of what you said - don't be afraid to be on the phone or over at your sponsors place as much as you need to be. Sponsors expect that of their sponsees.
Leaving your home and sons will no doubt be very difficult, but just think about how much better it will be when you come home. Think about the new mother that your sons will have and the new enjoyment you will experience with them through sober eyes

Sally!
I am so glad your back and your sober and your doing okay.
Well done - I am so very proud of you!
Embrace Rehab - your sons and home will be fine without you for 3 months. Your sons will probably be thrilled you are getting help and that they can stop worrying about you.
You made me smile tonight thanks!

Well done, Sally!
Good luck with your rehab. I did a detox followed with a 3 month rehab too, back in 1981, and I've not had a drink since... I had fears too, and you know? It still worked out. Your gratitude will really help you push past all the fears...

Thanks Robbie. You give me courage. Good luck with your upcoming operation.

Letting go of our old ways is very painful for us, even though our old ways were killing us.
Let go as best you can and the new life will flow into you.. a new life you can't even imagine right now. I was where you are.
All the best.
