Las Vegas, OMFG!!

I am in Las Vegas tonight. Flew in and headed up to Utah for some hiking and biking...

Wow... EveryOne starts getting hammered on the flight in... Never saw anything like it... Gonna hit the strip, I never saw it before... IDK, looks like a big waste of electricity ... LOLOL

Recoil like from a hot flame.....

I was in Vegas in May...went with my SIL, who is not a huge drinker...so I only drank moderately (2-3 drinks a night) I was up by 6am every day...would go outside to call my family back on the East Coast. That was the highlight of my day watching all the people still drunk from the night before.

We didn't hike in Utah, but did so some small trails at Red Rock Canyon!

I actually enjoyed my visit and if you do gamble at all, the morning is a great time! Hit $500 one morning on the wheel of fortune slots! What a great way to start the day

I have been to Vegas twice since I got sober. I never went when I was drinking. I enjoyed walking the strip and looking at the different hotels. I got to see the beauty of it, where I wouldn't have if I was drinking.

I'm with you, Mark. I get a queasy feeling when I've gone to Vegas, Atlantic City, and New Orleans (French Quarter). Its unsettling. I guess there's a reason they call it Sin City.

LOL ... The flames of hell are roasting Sin city today... 111 degrees, LOL. It's a trip, the lights and all. People stumbling through the crowds. I really am happy to not be one of them. Getting on those hiking boots later today and see how well nature puts on her on show!

I heard that you get free drinks as long as you are gambling. I imagine though that they do cut you off if you get so drunk that you are stumbling around?? I don't think I will ever be "spiritual fit" enough to travel there.

I dunno why.......but Vegas has never been a big deal to me. I'm not much of a card/dice/slot gambler so that's part of it.

But there's something more, I think. Vegas just seems, to me, like highschool: Everything's fake..... or phony...... or like there's this undercurrent of "crap" all around the place and everyone's pretending they're above it...

I dunno.....it's weird. Given my history and what I know about myself....... I should LOVE the place. LOL

I'd rather hit NYC anytime.......or a golf resort just about anywhere.

hey Mark.....check your pm's, ok?

It's been nearly 15 years since I've been. I think the only reason I did love Vegas was the free drinks. Every casino we checked out, I would make it a point to stand at a machine long enough to get my free drink and then move on. Ugh.

I would love to go again though. There's tons of stuff to do that don't involve drinking. I missed out on all that. Have fun Mark.

They do give free drinks, even soft drinks. You don't have drink alcohol. I have no idea if they cut you off or not.

When I was there, I called my kids every morning and sponsor every evening. I was not tempted to drink at all. Mostly grateful that I wasn't the one making a fool of myself.

I still can't handle going to Vegas. The free drinks; too tempting.

MC+ blackjack+ free booze = relapse bender from hell

Mark, I am glad you are having a blast. I hope to get to your level eventually

When I was last there I called Central Office ..asked where the
closest meeting was to my downtown hotel...

I hooked into the noon meeting of the T.I.E. Club
and enjoyed meeting many AA members...

I drank free colas with no problem...as I tipped for each
one... the servers and I were soon on first name basis

If one has the time and cash...I suggest the helicopter
tours are loads of fun..
