Withdrawals

I want to stop drinking and I want to do it safely. I'm not one of those people who drink themselves silly by noon (sorry I'm not trying to be offensive). But I do need to drink every day. If I don't I have a headache, I'm extremely irritable and nasty (my worst problem/symptom), I feel blue and fatigued and I don't want to do anything.

I know I won't have seizures or hallucinations or anything that severe. But for me the irritability is the hardest, especially where I'm a mom. I have an 8 month old baby and had no problems with giving up alcohol while I was pregnant because I knew couldn't drink. But the first day home from the hospital after she was born I was drunk. Damn it's hard getting up with a newborn after a night of drinking....

I'm aware that the doc can prescribe something for seizures etc. but can they also prescribe something for my symptoms?

Thanks Everyone.

Do you think

that you will EVER want to stop?

Be easier to get up with baby.

AA may be your solution.

Yes, they can. I hope you will go see your doctor and be honest about your drinking habits. If you want to stop drinking, they can help. Good luck.

Kelly - Absolutely! I 10000000% want to quit. That's how I found this place and what a wealth of information it is.

I'm worried about withdrawals and my kids. They know I drink. They don't know what an alcoholic is so to speak. I don't want them to see anything they don't need to. Does that make sense? I'm trying....
