Last time I posted I was just coming off of my last binge and its been 43 days now which is by far the longest Ive been sober in years. I am getting ready to go back to school but before I could register for my classes I had to take an academic assessment and long story short Im now being prescribed medication for ADD. I made my doctor and all the academic evaluators aware that Im an alcoholic but they still recommend I take the medication.

My questions are am I at risk to abuse this kind of medication? I was never a big druggie with the exception of drunken experimentation but it was never my vice. But could it be a trigger for drinking because its going to alter my thinking? Im worried about it but I also want to do what i can to improve my academic situation.

I go to AA several times a week and am in the process of finding a sponsor and restarting the steps but I was hoping for some opinions on this dilemma because drinking again is my last intention.
