Hand-eye coordination and use/withdrawal

Hi everyone,

I am very passionate about learning to play piano. However, I struggle with use and the short amount of time I can remain clean, and somewhat minor withdrawals. In either case, my hand-eye coordination is horrible to the point where it affects my progress in the area of piano playing. I have also tried some other hand-eye coordination exercises not related to piano which I also have done horribly on.

Has anyone else notice such difficulty with that sort of coordination? And if it went away, how long did it take for everything to return to normal?

Thanks

welcome back newman :)

I'm a musician as well...I'm not aware my coordination got worse - unless of course I was drunk - but it definitely got *better* once I stopped drinking for good.

If you're concerned I suggest you see your Dr :)

I did not notice hand-eye coordination problems, but I absolutely had balance problems. Late in my drinking and early recovery I would sometimes simply keel over for no reason (very disconcerting when you're not drinking!).

Well, it turns out that there is often some neurological damage from drinking, but this usually repairs itself within a few months. For example, my balance returned within 6-9 months--I don't remember exactly but I do know that it's been fine for a long time.

Of course the best person to ask about this is your doctor!

Welcome back...:wavey:

It took me about 2 months before I felt physically and mentally
in balance after I quit drinking.

I was also walking often and changed my diet to healthy foods...:yup:

What are you doing to improve your health?

I drank a long time. Took a year before I noticed an acceptable (for me) and consistent improvement in the fine motor movements of my hands/fingers.
