Would nearly drink P***

I woke at 4 this morning cause on day 6 of a bender and knew that there was cider in fridge and got up to drink it, my wife heard me and gave me a ear full ( which i deserve ).
I was at a friends childs christing on Sunday where all where having few drinks and craic, all was good but bet none off them doing wat i'm doin.
Why cant i just be normal?
I was of it for 4 months and life was great, but i thought i could go back to just weekend drinking but its not working out

I used to think I could drink on special occasions too. But each time it would turn into a two week bender after everyone went home. If you can't go to social events without drinking, then you can't go to social events anymore. I'm not preaching. I'm actually just like you.

I know how you feel. I got on a "bender" of being sober for 4 weeks, and it felt great. You did better then me-- 4 months!! Awesome! I slipped up doing stupid stuff again, but back at being straight. We can do it, Sean. One beverage leads to so much trouble every time. It blows for sure. Maybe in another life we can be "normal." Hang in there

Sean

You've tried drinking at weekends - more than once.
Clearly, it's not for you.

Time to face facts my friend.

Why cant i just be normal?
For the same reason I can't run very well...luck of the draw mate

I got a lot better a lot quicker once I threw up my hands and accepted things.

You have a great family Sean - and I'm sure a lot of good things going on in your life - don't endanger them any more.

Ha ha I'm not holding my breath for that! I'm such a booze hound that if I was reincarnated as an amoeba I would still love booze.

Yeast consume the sugars in grapes, barley, hopps, etc. We call this process fermentation. The yeast expell alcohol and carbon dioxide . When we drink alcohol we are actually drinking bacteria P***.

being normal isnt all what its made out to be. these so called normal people have problems in life, too.
if yer wanting to get sober i highly suggest getting any booze out of the house. that plus not doing it your way. from what i've read, that hasnt worked too good for ya.

I can relate to this seanie. When I went home after a social occasion, I would always 'carry on'... I actually carried on for the following 2 years give or take.

At least you are here, wanting things to be better.

I didn't find SR until I was detoxed and sober. Take the support here. Its priceless x

very true as the yeast consumes the sugars its waste product is yep alchohol.

I'm a very sick addict. I've said it a 100 times I'd smoke a turd if it had nicotine in it. and if pee had alcohol in it and was all that was available to get me drunk I'd drink it too. It need not taste like beer. I fermented my own stuff some good some aweful i had not problems drinking it however ::facepalm::

How sick is that? Very sick. Yeah I need to just stay away from it all.

Thanks for your honesty. I drink exactly like you do and I'm sure every single time I can control it this time. For the most part I do but when I stop, the craving is unbearable and I'm a miserable person to be near. I usually cause property damage to my home, break bones in my body, and terrify my family when I don't get my medicine (booze). It's not working for me any more so I'm trying something different this time. For me it's surrender and acceptance of what and who I am.

I really hope you find your way out of this Seanie - especially before you start losing the things you hold dear.

There's all the support in the world here - it needs action on your part though.

Sean, there are a million things to do that are better than drinking. If you don't stop, I almost guarantee you will start losing things: like your job, your family, and your health. You can't drink like normal people because you just aren't normal when it comes to alcohol. Neither am I. It ruins my life when I drink it. So I stubbornly stopped drinking it.

Try AA, try SMART or AVRT. Try running or singing or whatever. But stop drinking. And don't think past this moment. Just don't drink right this moment. Don't worry about what you are going to do tomorrow. Keep in simple and keep it in the now.

I am pulling for you to put the booze down and getting on with life.

If you fall down and your having trouble getting up do you just lay there and give up oh well this is where i'll die or do you try to get up? If you are going to try to get up how many times are you going to try? 10 times? 100 times? 1000 times?

The answerif is you keep tryen until you get up even if its a million times.

Its the same with drinking. You keep trying to quit it might take you many trys but you dont quit trying. Sooner or later it'll stick. Trying at all is a big part of the battle. Luckily you dont have to fight it alone.
