A conservative estimate of £70-100 a week over the 7 months I was drinking daily puts the cost at roughly £2550. Before I became a daily drinker most of my drinking was done at clubs/pubs were I would say £40 once a week was fair so £8320 for those 4 year. There was another period of daily drinking when I was 18 where I worked in a pub and got most of my drinks either from customers, lock-ins or my boyfriend so probably £20 a week (£600). That means in the past 5 years I have spent £11470

Looking at it another way, if I stay sober for the next 5 years I will have saved about £10000 (figuring I will still spend money on soft drinks when I go out). That's a lot of money to do a lot of things with!
